So a while back I broke my rear driveshaft in my 2009 Tacoma. I was winching up the ledge and the winch quit working.
Went to drive and the truck shut off and wasn’t charging.
Jumped it off and running it would read 12ish volts.

I checked all the fuses related and didn’t find anything blown. Assumed it was the alternator.

I just replaced the alternator tonight and can’t find my multimeter, but with the truck running I took the negative battery cable off and the truck just shuts off.

what else could this be? Trying to make a run this Saturday and need it fixed...

What did you replace the alternator with? If it's something from the parts store, don't assume it's a good alternator.
I need to delete this post. I’m retarded. There was a wire that came disconnected in the fuse panel. No idea who put it there, but the red part that is spliced into is not factory.

Alternator was not bad, but I have a spare now.

also, the winch still isn’t working. So I’ll troubleshoot that. Probably a solenoid issue.
