Toyota transmission question

I have a 1st gen 4runner and i believe my clutch went out. Is there any way to tell what year my transmission is? The truck is a bit of a Frankenstein and im not sure if the tranny is the 84-88 style or the 89-? Style...just trying to figure it out before i go get a clutch
