Couldn't you do the same thing by putting a foot on the brake and the other on the gas very slowly?
They buried it going forward and did not try to back out of it without the "crawl control". I agree it was stuck trying to drive up the hill but I have a feeling that gravity would have helped it on the way back down. I would have liked to see them try to back it out without the crawl control.
