I am thinking of installing air shocks on the front my sami. I would like to run a 4 link set up. However, there is not room for any upper control arms. My second choice would be a two control arm set up with a track bar. the control arms would simply mount to the chasis at one point and then mount to the axle at a low and a high point. Have any of you had any problems with a set up like this. Also what is this kind of set up called exactly, and can you link me to some pics?

I just did the same thing on a sammi, coilovers with links. It has a 1.6 w/ a long tube header and it does nothing but get in the way for a triangulated upper link system - So I just ran a wristed setup with a track bar. But it gots miles of flex. Ill get some pics of the front suspension for ya.

If you could run 1 upper link down the side, a well-designed 3-link (w/panhard) works better than a radius arm based suspension, and is far more tune-able.

A couple of FJ-80 guys I know of are converting their radius-arm setups to 3-links, with very good results.
