I'd like to try to find my dad's Jeepster Commando, maybe one of y'all bought it or knew someone that did. Here's what I remember of it:

-Pretty sure it was pre '72, as I think it had the vertical slot grill
-hardtop
-brownish/orangish body, white top
-was sold in or around High Point
-was sold sometime between 1987-1993
-my dad's name is Glen, he would looked like a dead ringer for Jeff Foxworthy at the time

zero

i do remember that you could take the key out while driving and unlock the glove box, if that helps any :D
Lol i can do that w my yota, the key is worn smooth.

I know of a yellowish jeepster with I think a white top that is pretty close to me(5 mins away). I’ve been eyeing it for a while now but have never stopped to ask. Any other identifying marks to it?

Thanks for the replies, as for any other info....no, i was way too young when he had it to remember much.

Just that he loved that thing. And my mom thought it was foolish to have that with a young family.

Please don't think there is some made for tv sappy story behind this. I just figured that as uncommon as these were/are, there might be a chance it wasn't torn apart and now that I'm in a position to give back, he would lose his mind if I could make it happen.

Any change of old DMV records being able to do a name search?
That would get you the VIN ..... then increase the odds of finding the current owner.
Got a friend with a badge?

Call the insurance company? Mine keeps records of vehicles I owned decades ago, with VIN data.
Ooooh this is a great idea.
BUT, unless you can impersonate your father, they aren't likely to talk to you. But hey, over the phone... they don't know who you are...
just be prepared to play, "nice but loopy old man who can't remember anything" and maybe you'll get lucky.

Got a few I might be able to ask....he has a clean record, would anything (helpful) show up from back then?

Regardless of his record, he still owned the vehicle.
I would imagine they would still keep owner history with the title records.
