Anyone ever run A tractor style, vertical exhaust? I was At the tractor supply down in York S.C. today, looking around I found A muffler for A tractor. Even A flapper cap. I almost drooled on myself, wouldn't that look perfect on my Heep. Since I have removed my fenders, it would be easy to run, from where the "A"piperuns across to the passenger side, just before it turns rearward, then up over the frame, under the battery, then straight up. It would terminate about 8" o 10" above the wind shield. I could fab some brackets ,& bolt to the fender holes on the front edge of the tub. Only thing is, will I get A ticket. It will need to stand up to abuse, such as mild jumps Etc. anybody know if S.C. vehicle code would allow such A mod?:driver: I would really like to do this, no kidding around! Imagine how cool it would sound, & look with the flapper pegged open, going down the road/ trail. Or with the flapper bouncing @ idle.

The only ones I have seen do this are the drag type biggies for mud/sand and such. All on short runs.
However there are several guys that do it with the pipe run up behind the cab. I think you touched on the very issue with the exhaust in your face part.

and the fact your hearing would DEF be shot in 30 secs. My jeep I had set up for mud racing, had the headers come straight up from the engine (SBC) and the exit pointed straight up, even with it like this, and earplugs in, with a helmet on, after each run, I was deaf for about 30 mins.

exhaust

Mine has been that way for several years, no problem.

not A strait pipe

This thing was an actual tractor MUFFLER. You can see through it, it looks like A glass-pack kinda. Large can with perforated center tube. Perfs are punched inward, so the punched part is not cut off, but bent out. Still attached at the top. This deflects gases/ noises from center tube into can. Should be quieter than A glass-pack. Also @ 8" to 10" above top of windshield, gases wont be in wifes face. She's only 4'11" anyway. I could take away her seat riser to give even more clearance. ( hope she never reads this, or I'm dead meat) She'll get used to the noise, or i'll get some earplugs for her.:gitrdun: Hey 91oneton, whats A 4bt? & Larry Smith, is yours ahead of the windshield? Behind the cab? Also you ain't to far from me, Maybe we could wheel sometime!

4bt = 4liter (actualy 3.9)cylinder b series turbo cummins diesel.
