looking for some help troubleshoot a small mid 80s diesel tractor. Mitsubishi MT33

Father bought it from my uncle in NY, pulled it off the trailer, parked it, and it sat a month or 3. Now it won't start... I had it at my house on the trailer and it fired right up no issues.

Battery seems to be good as it will arc off on the starter when bypassing the solenoid. I think it may even be a brand new battery if I remember correctly. However, the bendix doesn't seem to be engaging, just spinning...

Lights won't turn on
Ignition won't even activate the solenoid (not even any clicking) or anything

My initial thoughts are the ignition switch starting to fail..

Battery could have low voltage from sitting. I'd load test it, charge as needed and try again.

If the batt is good it could be an issue as simple as a bad ground or corroded connection. Was it stored inside or out?

Why dont you just let me take it off your hands...

Be careful what you wish for. My father was just saying yesterday he will likely sell it and buy a new Kubota as he doesn't have the knowledge or time to tinker with the Mitsubishi like my retired uncle did.

I don't know how it was stored in NY but my father had had it outside since he had it, 6 months or so

Could be as simple as the battery terminals not being tight on the posts.

Maybe. My father swapped the battery so no telling.

He'd love for someone to come fix it so he can sell and get a newer machine. :)

those little mistus are badass....mistu and kubota are basically the same machine (think chevy/gm) through the early 90s.

This thing is cool. My dad just isn't a mechanic to get some of the small things taken care of nor does he really have the time. If he could find a mechanic to get it fixed and it stay working like it should, he would keep it

I keep thinking about this every time I see this thread:

is it in hickory? how much as it sits?

It is in Hickory. I could only speculate on $ to buy it.

My uncle was very meticulous with keeping his equipment running and maintained and my dad is a little stumped as to what the issue is because of my uncle's retentativeness. I'm sure it's something simple but I'm 4 hours away.

I sent you a PM on a local guy. If he throws out a number, shoot it to me. I have been contemplating getting one.
