Traffic lawyer recommendation for Randolph county

Got a speeding ticket a few weeks back. I have several flyers of lawyers, but want any recommendations from anyone with experience.

Also wondering if PO get what you pay for in a lawyer. I have several $75 and one at $170. They sound the most competent on the phone. Just wonder if the extra $100 is worth it.
 
Did you ask them what they thought they could get it reduced to? I always pick the cheapest of the ones who can make it go away as a city-code or non-moving violation (not that I've ever got a speeding ticket...but theoretically speaking of course). Then just go by feel from the phone call. I went with a $130 guy one time because he didn't seem as sleazy as the $200 guy. A prayer for judgement is only as good as your behavior for the next 3 years (though you can lawyer up and get another within 3 years, but it's more expensive). Also, factor in whether or not you will have to pay court costs.
 
Holy shit...you guys are paying $150ish for traffic lawyers. The guy I use is $300 every time to clean my mess up. Then again I have to call him about twice a year, and my record is still clean.

But agreed, I paid about $300 per ticket for two tickets about 10 years ago, they just went away, insurance rate never changed, etc. But I have stayed away from his office ever since thankfully.
 
Mine was 52 in a 35. I honestly thought I was in a 45. But nope.

$170 lawyer says he'll get a faulty equipment and it won't show up on insurance or license.

Other lawyers say just try to get it reduced.

I'll have court fees of $283-$350 :mad: on top of lawyer fees.

Oh well, pay attention to the fuckin speed limit moron!
 
I got a ticket in VA on 77 just past the border. Did a quick google search for traffic lawyers and the 5 firms ranged from $125-275 who all claimed no points/insurance knocks. Went with the $150 firm, $70 fine and court charges, and my 81 in a 65 ticket was gone. Luckily it was written as a speeding ticket and not a reckless driving ticket, otherwise they all said I was screwed.

Go with the guy who will make it go away. You can get it reduced by just going to the DA and asking to get it reduced.
 
Actually, it won't show up on insurance if you just go to the DA yourself. You'll get 1 license point and no insurance points. Be good for 3 years and it's all gone for just the cost of court fees.

What they said. Get it reduced yourself. As long as there are no other moving violations already on your insurance it won't make your rates go up.

not really true. It's over 15 miles over the speed limit. That's license revoked! Been there done that about 7 years ago.

Thats why you go to the DA and have it reduced to 9 over or less. Then your insurance company will basically "ignore" it if its the first ticket less than 10 over in 3 years. Thats what I did with my very first ticket, I just wasn't sure if that was still possible since that was 12 years ago. However, after paying as much in court costs and fines as getting a lawyer, I never bothered with it again. Why pay $135 and get a point or 2 on your license, deal with going to the courthouse, and have a ticket that could come back and hit your insurance later, when you can pay $150 and it goes away?

After having been through my share of these :D my opinion is, if you're a workin' man, do the lawyer route every time. The $150 extra is worth less than the concern about extra points (ins. co. only gives 1 "freebie"), and maybe more importantly, the loss of a day's pay plus PITA of going to court.

yeah i was goin to mention him but last time i had a certificate of achievment in Randolph he was doin alot more DUI stuff so i didnt know what he was up to these days, he always was the best back in the day tho!!!
