Trail clearing help (break off from SHOP thread)

I love a good adventure. Likely could not get up there before noon. Have a place for a tow rig and trailer?

Plenty of room, and if someone wanted to camp there is a great view of Pilot mountain.

So another year has passed šŸ˜‚. Was playing on the bulldozer today and figuring out that I would much rather cut trees with a chainsaw and throw them down the hill as opposed to killing myself flipping a bulldozer off the mountain.

I walked some of the gulleys that would make good climbs, and found multiple old logging roads that would be good to connect the challenging stuff. If anyone would be up for scheduling a weekend to go cut trees hit me up. I would like to make this a monthly (or every other) thing and I think there is plenty up there to give even full buggies a challenge.

The picture doesn't do it justice, I think this section would be fairly easy but with the incline it's on that will add a challenge.

If anyone is up for a Saturday of wheeling with some tree cutting (mostly small trees) mixed in, let me know. All trees would literally be dropped, off the side of the trail and that's it, no real 'clean up' to be expected.

I would be taking a RZR to trail forging, but anything is welcome.

Date would likely need to be in January at this point as I don't want to disturb the hunters too much.

Tagging people I know live in the area.
@Cribb @CasterTroy @BigClay @Joe J.
I am always down to run a chainsaw! Count me in

I'm down for dragging brush...

Hopefully there won't be much. My plan is to drop trees OFF the trails to leave as little manual labor as possible. My thought is whatever days this happens that is is more wheeling than trail clearing. There is a 'path' all the way to the top of the mountain, but it's just enough room to turn around and come back down, no trail on the ridgeline yet, that will be a pretty challenging trail once it is cleared.

Does anyone have a preference for a specific Saturday in January?

I need to hurry up and get (started on) my truck squared away and finish up some stuff on my RZR. This sounds like it would be fun! Of all the things I have that burn gas/fuel, my chainsaw is the only thing that doesn't need any work šŸ˜‚

Probably in the same boat with the chainsaws/vehicles.... Luckily every tree that needs to be cut, my 16" 025 would likely be all that's needed.

How would Jan 11/Feb 1 work? Weather dependent of course. Most of the trails would be accessible to the top or bottom by mildly built rigs, there is a steep hill climb that might be sort of sketch feeling in a short wheelbase rig. It's only 53 acres, and I am sure there will be open seats for people that don't want to bring a rig. There is a large rock garden at the top that has plenty of room for a free for all of we make it that far.

The only thing I have planned on Saturdays in Jan/Feb are basketball games, I can skip this if need be, but I am free on Jan 11/Feb 1.

I don't mind going multiple weekends if some want to come on one day and not the other.

I could probably be up there in February. I'll drag my little camper to overnight up there if you've got a spot.

Like a single axle pop up or something? Should be fine. You would have a GREAT spot to camp (no hookups) I will move a few trucks/excavator before the first meet so there is plenty of parking.

I have an easy place to turn around a truck/trailer, but it's kind of a one-at-a-time spot. So depending how many show up, just have to take turns turning around/parking. 4x4 tow rigs recommended, but probably not absolutely necessary.
