I’ve never replaced trailer bearings or hubs, just greased them.
Checking out my trailer today because I’m heading to Kairos later the week with the CTB.
A couple of the wheels feel like they have more play than they should.

I’ve been searching using all the numbers on the axle tag, even on Lippert’s webpage and not finding anything that makes me certain of what parts I need. These are 4,000 lb axles, which apparently are a bastard size that nobody wants to admit to.

Any smart trailer people out there that can point me in the right direction for parts? I’ll call Lippert Monday morning, but thought I’d check here.

Also, how much back and forth play is too much?

Here's the lippert part number breakdown which will get you everything you need.

Interestingly enough thats an RV axle

Our travel trailer had oddball designated Lippert axles in it. They were rated for 4400 pounds. I eventually figured out that it was mostly 3500# axle parts with a 5200# outer bearing and race being the only odd piece.

Should be able to clean old bearings and races and get a part number. Had a bearing failure a couple months ago on way to GER and the trailer had some bastard bearings. Spent over 400$ on every one it could have been. All were wrong. Pouring down rain, finally thought to tear apart another spindle and bam! Good part number. They were odd ball but managed to find them within a couple parts houses.

You can call Mike Moore at 704 882 3181 and he will probably have the parts in stock.

UPDATE:
Pulled the worst feeling one apart. The castlenut had a good bit of play in it. Tore it all down, cleaned it, packed the bearings, torqued the castlenut to spec to set the bearings, backed it off and tightened it by hand, put a new cotter pin in it. It feels like it should now.
On to the other 3.

Thanks for all the info. I panicked a little since I haven’t been wheeling in so long and have been looking forward to this coming weekend for months.

I’d definitely write the part numbers down. And possibly keep one set in hand. This is a great idea
