What type/brand etc brake controllers is everybody runnin and how do u like em? Ive currently got a tekonsha voyager and im not too sure on how i like it. The voyagers have to be manually leveled and are a pendulum style controller, supposedly the harder you brake the harder the trailer is supposed to brake etc, but i dont think that is really whats happening. On steeper hills it trys to lock up the brakes due to the angle of the truck/controller thinking you are braking really hard i guess, but on flat ground its ok.
Anyone have any experience with the new P3 controller?

I've got a Prodigy. No complaints. I usually crank it up on the interstate, and dial it back a bit if I'm in stop/go slow speed stuff.

Have the same, and love it. I have had it in two different tow rigs now, and did a great job in both.

I have prodigys in both trucks...

ford factory
works fine

Is the prodigy self leveling? The P3's are sposed to be some pretty BA controllers, but they are pricey as hell and to change the braking its push button digital instead of having a dial

its push button digital instead of having a dial

I'd want to see how that worked before I installed one. The nice thing about the dial is that I know how far I need to turn it without looking.

i am running a brake smart.i pull 5 different trailers regularly., never have to touch it. just drive an forget about.the factory ford is nice also.

I've got a Tekonsha Primus IQ, little brother to the Prodigy, similar circuitry without some of the bells and whistles.

was about $70 when I bought it a year ago.

I had the Prodigy, and love it. Sold the camper, kept the controller.
Bought new camper, could not find the controller, so had to settle for a lesser one since I could not find one local in stock. I bought the cheapo from Northern, only brand they had, and seems to work fine. no issues. Was about $65

I love my p3. I pull a lot of different weights and it works well for that. I especially like the boost options, but those are available on all 3 models. You cannot change the boost option while the brake is depressed, but you can change the regular braking power levels. Your foot has to be off the brake to change the boost level. If you were considering the Prodigy, go ahead and spend the $20 extra bucks and get the P3. The Primus is another great option. It has most all of the important features of the Prodigy and P3. Still, for the money I'd choose the P3. I like the digital read out. :)

Im the same way, i can change weights 5 different times in a day picking up materials....i might give you a holler and swing by this weekend to check it out if your going to be home

Mine's so old it has a hard brake line run under the dash to control proportionality! It's got a lever that moves across the front when you brake and a big-ass spring style rheostat under the hood you have to manually adjust. This doesn't help you, I just thought it was funny. I can't tell if mine works for crap, but if you want it, you're welcome to it. I want to switch to an electronic soon.

Those are actually pretty nice, so long as it's still working. The brake line pressure sensor works a lot better than an inertia sensor.

Adjusting it's a bitch, and can't be done on the fly. Plus, I'm not looking forward to the day that line starts passing fluid on my foot!
