trailer licensing/registration

hey guys,
maybe this has come up before, but..
i bought that M-416 trailer a few years ago from a buddy. i'm trying to sell it, and i've been asked about licensing it..
i've never licensed it, nor do i have registration for it..
i could get a bill of sale quickly, but i'm not so sure it's ever been registered..

what do i need to do..i've surfed the DMV site, but i'm more confused than before..

any help would be appreciated..

Get a home built trailer kit from DMV. They give a serial number, stamp it on the tongue and axle, get it inspected by highway patrol and take form back to DMV for nice new title.

Has anyone had issues doing this due to the trailer not actually being home-built?

I didn't. They didn't even second guess it. Hell they didn't even check my lights or tires or anything. Just the VIN.
