trailer tire question

Tires on my trailer were getting bad dry rot so I picked up some used ones the other day. Well one of the tires I picked up has some cracks in middle of sidewall. Not near as bad as the old ones but my question is, is any amount of cracking acceptable or should I get another tire. It didn't show up until aired up to 80psi. Also anyway to check unmounted tires better in future before buying?

Don't run it working on your trailer on the side of the highway sucks ask me how I know

Look at the production date is what i do. If over 4-5 years i walk away....

Production date means nothing if taken care of a tire can last 20 year's , look for cracks , if its cracking it will not hold a quarter of the intended load.

I personally see problems with trusting used trailer tires bc I don't know how abused they were.

Agreed but most trailers sit out side in the sun and not taken care of....

Well I hate to buy new tires because my trailer only gets 2000 miles a year maybe and the tires rot off before ever showing much wear. But maybe its time to just suck it up and buy some new ones.

Keep them covered, they'll last longer. But I'd still be surprised if you got more than 7-8 years.

Cover them from sunlight or do they need to protected from all elements. Trailer is a deck over so it would be easy to hang a small tarp on each side with some snaps or something when parked.

Cover from sunlight and armorall once a month and they will last. My grandpa never let's his sit on dirt or grass only rubber(old floormats) or concrete
