Has anyone ever put a transmission cooler in a TJ? I have a 1999 that I would like to be able to tow a small trailer without boiling my tranny fluid again.

If anyone has put a cooler in, where did you put it? Pics would be great. Thanks in advance.

You can put the cooler between the grill and rad/condensor if you have ac. You can tap into the factory line at the radiator and just run it in series with the built in rad cooler.

How do you tap the tranny? Or do they have lines already.. im not a auto guy

The tranny has lines running to the radiator. The radiator also has tanks that act as a trans cooler. If you add another cooler to the front, just pick up 2 -6 barb & 1 -6 union fittings and a few feet of hose. Pull the return line from the radiator, pop the union on screw in the barb to the union, hook the hose up and run it to the cooler. The outlet of the cooler, push the hose on, run the other end to the radiator, screw in the -6 fitting & push the hose on(use hose clamps on everything). Dont forget to add roughly an additional 1/2 qt of trans fluid to occupy the trans cooler.

Its very easy to do. Bring your rig down to the shop when you pick up your tube inserts and I can show you.
