Tranny Woes

Ok here goes,
Removed tcase had it rebuilt, installed tcase.

Forward gear work fine but reverse grinds/whines, sounds like, when you go from drive to park while driving...

93 YJ, 4.0, TF999 & NP231


What did I do wrong?
Linkage?

that would leave me to believe that the issue would be in the t-case

did you pull just the t-case or did you pull the extension hsg off of the trans?

I pulled just the case..
Why would t-case effect it going into reverse?

have someone get in the jeep and put it in reverse while you lay under it and see where the noise is coming from.(foot on the brake of course)

just a thought...is your linkage on T-Case in right slot. only because on my XJ sometimes will grind into reverse but not D if not all the way engaged correctly so just a thought, not to insult anyone's intelligence. good luck, curios to know what caused it

Ok,
we messed with linkage, seems to do fine for a few minutes then grind again..
I believe it is coming from tcase. It was rebuilt by my bossman (it's his jeep)
he has never done one before, internet trained.
I suggest it be rebuilt correctly.

he may have, i sometimes get confused with phone calls. i get so many calls in a day about issues that it's hard for me to remember them all.
