Anyone have any tranny ideas for ME? I have a 258 with a dana300. Ineed to change to an automatic because of My Multiple Sclerosis. Just can't handle the clutch pedal for very long. Need to do this as cheap as possible(doesn't everyone) THANKS in advance for any info.

I have a TF 727 that think will bolt up fine you should ask on www.ifsja,org to be sure. or ask AMCjeepman on here
this is in a 1988 grand wagoneer and I am pulling it out this weekend if interested pleas make a offer it needs to go

currently it is in my wagoneer I do not know the working condition but my jeep has a rod sticking thru the bottom of the oil pan(thisis the way I bought it), so I assume that it was working when this happen.
there is 135k on the clock.

A TF 727 out of a wagoneer will work great. Thats what I am running and it will bolt directly to your 258. Your dana 300 should bolt right up also if that is what the wagoneer had. It is possible that the wagoneer may have a different transfer case. If this is true, you may have to get an adapter or a different 727. If you have any questions, PM me and I will give you my number.

Tom's right... I think the "fix" involves a certain amount (4" ???) of lift for the front DS to clear the VB/Pan for stock width axles...

Wouldn't an AW4 from a 90's xj fit, and doesn't it have a standalone pc for the trans?

sorry about the PM reply before i wasn't sure what was going on...

I solved a 'similar' problem with the 700r4/D300 with the valve body area being heavily offset to the passanger side..

Axle width and pinion offset plays a big part in how it will all work.

I ground down the pan rail some removing some extra casting and the very edge of the pan sealing edge itself. Plus, I was able to clock the t-case to just the right spot to allow a 1-3/4" drive shaft to clear the case. the u-joint/yoke spins above the pan area while the shaft clears just fine...

The other way it would have worked was to have the t-case in an almost stock location (ie hanging down) where in that case it was below the pan line to start with and didn't pose any problems..

hope this helps..
