should be a nv3550 in the tj and that has the same 23 spline outputshaft as the ax15. however the ax15's shaft will stick out a little past the back of the trans and the nv3550 will be even with the back.
231's have different length input shafts. you should measure this to see if it's the same. if the input shaft is too short it will not seal against the rear seal on the tranny and can leak gear oil. might be able keep it sealed with silicone between the t-case and trans.
