Trans ratio in 88 cherokee 5-speed

AJ, the tranny you are talking about is the BA-10

It is one of the worst 5 speed trannies made, and the worst of the 5 speeds that Jeep used

T-5 in CJ's
BA-10's in Wranglers, XJ's
AX-15 in Both, behind the 6 cylinders
AX-5 in both behind the 4 cylinders
nv3550 which compares to the ax-15, but was used behind some small block V-8's in Jeeps, and dodge trucks and is a little tougher than the ax-15

X2. Had one. Junk

thanks josh
what should i talk him into putting in there that wouldnt cost over 200

Depends on the motor he has

Is he building a trail jeep?, daily driver?

If he wants to stay 5 speed, help him find a ax-15, or a nv3550, as you now both these trannies are medium duty and will hold up well to small block V-8's

he wants a little trail rig but dont got alot of money to throw at it. I think its just the 4.0 stright six in there and yea I told him to look for a nv3550.
