will .120 wall HREW be strong enough to hold up my trans and tcase? AW4/231?

i just want to run a bar with bushings on each end to hold it up.
of course it will have a flat skid to keep rocks from it. just wondering if it would be sufficeint?

I would be worried about HREW. Try to find some .188 or .250 wall DOM. My tcase xmember is 3/8 x 8 flat plate with 1" angle welded to the top to make it more rigid.

yes, keep the skid separate from the cross member. Build your skid so it can't bend and crash with your cross member.

the skid is a barnes 4wd flat belly skid. i was thinking 3/16 flat plate to help it a lil run across it and bend it down. i'll try to find a pic of my idea.

It'll be perfectly fine. I've built numerous crossmembers that way without any issues. As long as the skid isn't tied into it you'll be fine. (I know yours isn't)

I built mine this way. My skid is a separate entity. do it....

As already said, it will be fine. Your motor mounts handle 95% of the torque, all the trans/tcase mount does is support the weight of the trans/tcase and help keep everything in line with the driveshaft.
