Hey All,
My CJ has 4-5" of lift and a 1" transfer case drop and the valve cover hits the firewall sometimes. I was wondering if I could take the spacers out....the engine would stop knocking on the firewall and I'd get back that 1" of belly clearance (I think I'd have about 20" after) ....I have a rear CV driveshaft, so I think the rear driveshaft could handle the angle, but what about the long front with only std ujoints?

A Tom Woods superflex joint at the t-case should take care of any problems up front, just don't run on the street with the hubs locked. I have a CJ-5 with a SOA w/add-a-leaves, CV-rear shaft, superflex in the front shaft, and no transfer case drop. Also, make sure your wiring harness doesn't get between the valve cover and firewall. Unless you like patching a burnt harness in the middle of nowhere with a pocket knife and a roll of tape.....not fun.

t case drop

my cj7 has 4.5 sua lift w/ no t case drop cv rr shaft and is fine at 65 mph, std u joints on front w/ a clocked up 300 w/ no problems but i have never used 4wd other than off road going slow
