iv got a 94 jeep grand cherokee (ZJ) 4.0 i6 4x4 with a 4 spd automatic transmission with overdrive. i cant identify what transmission is in it. all i know is theres 14 bolts holding the tansmission pan on and no identification plate that i can find. the only numbers i found where on the sid of the trans just above the trans pan that read as follows Pk52118028 2024 2555. if anyone can help me id greatly apprecite it.

thank you transman731. can you tell me anything good or bad about the transmission itself? The reason im asking is 2days ago mine started slipping at 2800 rpm in 2nd gear but just for a few seconds if i let off the gas and got back on it again it would be fine also if i start out in 1st and manually shift it through 2nd and drive it doesnt do it at all. started off in 2nd and shifted it manually and it was fine also. Its full on fluid and no leaks. any ideas what it is?

I just read your original post again, being that it's a 94, it's not an electronically controlled transmission. If it is only slipping on the 2-3 shift, it's most likely the inner seal on the direct drum. It shrinks over time and there is no fix except to rebuild it. When it gets rebuilt the new seal is. 015 thicker and prevents it from shrinking again.
I would take it somewhere and have them test drive it and give you a professional opinion.
