Transmission info

Will a 4l80e out of a 5.7 fit a 7.4 ? Some have told me yes some have told me NO. Just trying to see if any one knows for sure..

same bellhousing pattern. same convortor pattern.

some years had non shift switch on side of tranny some did. 95-up needs shift switch on tranny.

ad around 98 i think thay went to split location tranny cooler lines. no longer paired together on the tranny case. better cooling flow.

That is what i needed to know ... I found like 100 trannys out of a 5.7 but none out of a 7.4 ....Well the ones for a 6.5 tubro work as well

diffrent tourqe convortor stall speeds. but basicly yes.

and unless you know the whole history and drove it first i wouldnt trust a used auto tranny. seen to many and swaped to many that were no good once in and drove.

just find a good reman person or create tranny with warrenty.

wish i could do that but prices im getting or from $1200 to $2500. was going to have this one rebuilt but all the hard parts are fried together. I never seen one burnt this bad and still move. Not one clutch was left

k that then needs a new to you tranny.

ask them if the used has warrenty and what does it cover if bad like labor to remove and install. and does it come with a can of cooler flush to rinse the lines and cooler before you install and run the tranny.

Yea labor is nothin gon it not bad at all like hour for us to pull it... But OMG what is up with not finding any used or rebuilt 4l80e's cheap... These are like GOLD

have you searched http://www.automotix.net/index.html and www.car-part.com

a lot of the parts on automotix come with one year warranty.

They're really not hard to rebuild, might wanna research that and give it a shot.

please don't, i'm sure some of you are perfectly capable of building your own transmissions, but i don't advise it.

as far as it being hard, anyone who says they are not that hard, has never built one.

and if you dont have the right tools for parts of the reman job you can get hurt real fast.

unless you have done a few and know your limits then watch and learn from someone who knows how to do it.
