transmission or transfer case

I have a 1975 chevy and it will no move. When I put it in gear it is like you have not even shifted it.{Auto} I checked the fluid,checked the shift arm all looks good and moving.when I bought the truck this is how it was. so is there a way to check the transfer case before I go buy one and need the transmission instead. Thanks for your help....

Which transmission/transfercase, normaly the transfer case does not fail or at least have some kind of drive, my first guess is the transmission is not going into gear, i have seen in the past the inside shifter nut come off on gm transmissions, everything looks good on the outside, but drop the pan and insure the selector inside and the s clip are working. just the first step in insuring it is gettin the basic input.

Check torque converter my th350 wont make a sound or anything when its not full of fluid could also be tcase in nuetral.... If knew what engine trans tcase ya had would prolly help a bit!

I seen ya profile name is iwantajeep... well you get that 75 running ill trade ya a 96 zj locked front and rear with v8 35/30 axles just replaced engine and trans year ago pm me info on the chevy if ya interested...

it is a 454 350 trans and a 203 transfercase......when I put it in park it works as it should....But when you shift it,,it is like you only put it in N...
