transmission sticking

check the linkage right at the trans. I had a rock get wedged between the transmission and the lever and I couldnt get mine to go from reverse to drive.

His explanation is not clear.

He got water in Trans, We believe it came in though the vent tube on the top of the trans, He tried to cross a mud hole that was deeper than it looked and the Jeep was deep enough to get water in the floor boards. Afterwards it shifts (via the shifter) fine, But doesn't engage the gear. Basicly it would just rev and not go.

Changed the Fluid, filter and had it flushed (Which blew the main seal, replaced) and it will now drive up to 2nd gear, will not shift out of second.

So suggestions as to what the issue is, Besides the transmission is shot.

drop the valve body and make sure there isnt grit clogging it up anywhere.

any deeper than that and you might as well rebuild everything and replace the pump...the parts are cheap anyway its the labor that is a killer.

Water will ruin an auto transmission pretty quickly. Sounds like either there is a problem with the valve body or quite possibly the front band is shot. I've never heard of an aw3,but if it's a 32rh try adjusting it (the band) and see if anything changes. Then, start saving.
