Wife and I are going out to Charlotte on Saturday night for dinner and a comedy show. Anyone have any recommendations on reasonable priced transportation services to and from other than a taxi or uber?

I looked at one limo site to get a quote and it came back $500. No thanks to that.

Uber said about $20 one way and taxi about $60 one way. Uber definitely looks like the cheapest option but I'm just not sure about riding with some random person with no company backing like a taxi company.

Check to see if Uber plus or whatever the luxury one is available. We used Uber a ton when we to DC and it worked good for us.

I don't have a clue what he charges, but a good friend of mine runs a Limo Service. He's going to and from Charlotte all the time from Hickory doing airport trips. If he's already in the area, it may be beneficial to both of you. He has limousines, as well as regular sedans he can drive. Name of the company is Accent Limousine and number is 828 638 0017. His name is Dale.

Like I said, it may be out of your price range, or he may already be booked. But it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

Uber is fine. You can read reviews of the driver.

We used it in Milwaukee a couple weeks ago. Went 35 miles in the back seat of a BMW SUV for less than half the cost of a cab. And the driver let us bring our beers along for the ride...

I've used Uber about 3 dozen times now in 10-12 different cities. Of all those trips only maybe 2 were hassles for one small reason or another, but nothing to discourage me from continuing to use and recommend the service.

The cars are typically cleaner than taxis and drivers are better conversationalists than taxi drivers.

And same as Ron said, any evening that we used the service we took our booze with us. You meet some cool people driving for them.

I gave him a call but he wasn't going to be in the area. Thanks for the recommendation.

Uber insures all passengers in the vehicle and the vehicle and driver the entire time the driver is logged into the app.

What if there is a forced restart for a phone update?

I drove for Uber for a while. You're covered while you are in the car by Uber. Theres a lot of rumor about that but it's required by law. Also you can request a black car which is a large SUVs like a suburban or navigator. They are only a few dollars more than a normal uber. Also a lil insider tip, if there is surge pricing, look for an uber black car. They usually aren't in as high demand and don't surge like a normal uber car. You'll usually get out cheaper.

My buddy Daniel also has a limo service if you are interested. He also does Uber Black Car on the side....

My boss was just explaining to me what uber was and how great his experience has been with it the 7 times he's used it. You have a profile, driver has a profile, it's like a taxi cab social app. I can't think of a reason I'd need to be driven anywhere but if I did I would use uber.

You may want to do a little research check the Huffington post and the n. Y. Times about assault charges on uber. Those surge prices are pretty outrageous one customer paid 50.00 to go 3miles in Asheville. On Halloween night

I heard a lot of stories about cab drivers during my stint as an Uber driver also. There are shitty people in every business around the globe.
Also, the App tells you what your ride is gonna cost. That's why, like I said above, if you don't want to pay the surge rate, there are other avenues. Most people I spoke with said they would rather pay the higher rates than wait 30 min to an hour on a cab.

bingo. Even at surge, prices are competitive w/ taxis. And that won't be an issue w/ this trip.
and like said, if you don't like the fare, just don't take it.

FYI I've found this is a great way to get to/from the airport to avoid parking fees.

Check my prices are cheap compared to uber .I charge 2.50 a mile always may have to Jack that up

I'm sure eventually Uber will be as highly regulated as the cab industry. You seem to be on par with what the cab companies here in Charlotte charge. It's anyone's choice as to what service they want to use. I've ridden in both a cabs and Uber.
Are you independent? Do you own your own cab? If so I'm sure you take good care of your vehicle and provide a great service. Unfortunately that's not always the case. I took a cab downtown one time, and I swear the guy hauled his trash to the dump before starting his shift. Uber probably has some nasty rides too but it's a lot less common.... With the rating system they have, if you get too many bad ratings then Uber will cut you off. Most of the cab companies around here are big conglomerates that DGAF. They're pissed because Uber is a poke in the eye.....

I own my own company and I have 4 vehicles 2 have wheelchair lifts and I keep my stuff clean and maintained. The wife says I'm a control freak. I have seen some pretty crappy cards around Asheville. If your ever in Asheville look me up. I would be happy to help my company is Weaverville cab 828-575-8065 thanks Tom

We ended up just using Uber. Both rides were fine. Got $20 off my first ride so it was only $10.
