Hey guys, I am in search of one of you guys that might have a stump grinder that you might let me borrow or rent from you for a day, I just have one stump I need to grind down. Hoping somebody might be in a generous sprit to let me use there's for cheap or a case of beer or whatever. Can pick it up myself just probably need it for a couple of hours and then Ill bring it back to you. Don't mind leaving a vehicle or something at your place as collateral till I return your equipment, if need be. Just trying to save some money and not rent one for just one stump. Thanks alot!!

I have found that it is cheaper to call someone to come out and grind it than to try and rent one.

Hahaha, well I climbed this 80ft tree with a deer climbing stand, limbed it as I went up, got to top and tied off large rope to truck and dropped the whole tree perfect. So as you can tell doing it myself for cheap is what I try to do.

After all that I'd just take the chainsaw to the stump. You'll be done with it in an hour or so.

Trouble w/ that is if you're really trying to grind it down deep, you'll ruin yours chainsaw blades on the ground

You will ruin the chain(s) and bar on the chainsaw. It will take a while and it will be significantly more dangerous. Depending on you level of patience, you could inject the stump rot stuff in it and it will be gone in a year.

My personal stump removal favorite is to invite over a few friends with plenty of suds and burn it to oblivion.

Home Depot on Strickland Rd has stump grinder rental, I think it even has a trailer to haul it on, no idea what the cost is.

Do you really need the stump gone, or just to not be seen? The reason i ask is because I've dug the dirt out around a few and cut it off about 1" below ground level and covered it back up with dirt. Obviously that is not the solution if you want to plant something back in that spot.

The fun part of this is when you start getting random fires popping up 15 foot away from the roots burning and connections to other stumps!

Had that happen on a Scout campout once. Thought we are the baddest thing ever... until we found ourselves playing firemen and had to start pissing on stumps when we ran out of water

Epsom salts? How does that work?
Salinity kills cells, rot happens.

The key word here is "patience". Thi is a the super-slow way to do it... and pretty much guarantees nothing will grows around it.

Since nobody has said it yet - many choices in the "explosives" domain.

Gotcha,

Tannerite seem like a better idea..
