Trigger Finger?

Not itchy, has anyone had this condition. It hurts so much it made my stomach hurt! Got a Cortisone injection yesterday and it feels alot better now but still stiff and grinding in the middle, middle finger joint. I'm hoping I won't need surgery to fix it. Anyone here had it or the minor surgery to slit the sheath of the affected tendon? and if so how long is the recovery generally? Reading the wiki on it I beleive it was recently caused by repetitive use of a hammer drill and jigsaws and a year and a half old injury to my hand.

A guy at work had that symptom with his middle finger. He had to have surgery. All is good now. Sorry I don't have anymore info.

I have it in the joint closest to my hand in my thumb. It's worse in the AM but through out the day I get it to loosen up and it's not so bad. I heard/read that it will get better over time and only the most severe cases would have to get the surgery done. I'm not sure what severe is but I still have the use of my thumb most of the time without it hurting and the only time it does is when I extended/stretch it to it's normal limit; after that it's hit or miss.

Not sure if it's the same thing or not, but several years ago I had a sore elbow one day, the next day I had some swelling, then another day and it was the size of a goose egg. Went to Doc, gave me meds, steroids and antibiotics. Took these for two weeks, and it got progressively worse. Ended up going to Docs office, sat there for over two hours because of no appointment. Had to keep a small pillow under my arm to keep it from touching anything. Was the size of a soft ball at this point, he sent me to the hospital, The did surgery that night, at which time it had increased in size to that of a cantaloupe! Forearm swelled, looked like Pop-eye, and hand swelled to the point I could not bend my fingers at all.
I was told it was an infected Bursa. No injury, it just happened. Everyday I wake it has pain, gets better throught the day, ...most days.
