I have a 02 trooper with a 4l30e automatic. Isuzu mechanic says the tranny is shot and needs to be rebuilt or replaced to the tune of $4000. Can anybody on here recommend a good rebuilder in the area that could do a quality job more reasonably? I found a salvage tranny on Craigslist for $1400 but for all I know it could be a piece as well. Thanks for any input.

I would definatly do it for less than $2000, out the door with a 12 month warranty

I see alot of these go bad in the BMW's and honda trucks as well

There are three or so in a u-pull it near me(I think one Trooper, the others are the Acura's). I know one of them the motor is gone, I don't know about the tranny. I think the place gets $100 or so for the them then $30 or so for the "warranty"(they just give you your money back or another one). I'll take a look, but it might not be until later this week.

BTW, $1400 is a lot for the tranny. I had a 99 and from what I remember 97/8 to 00 had a serious problem with pissing away the oil. Mine went through half a quart between fill ups with 90K miles. I would think for $1400, you should be able to find a Trooper where someone never checked the oil and blew it up.

That's what I was thinking but I have not had any luck finding one for a decent price. One problem is that starting with the 2000 model Isuzu added "Grade Logic" to the Trooper automatics, so my search is narrowed down to 2000-2002 models. If you find something let me know, I'd appreciate it.
Sha ba do bang, PM me with some specifics, I might be interested in a rebuild if I can't find a decent salvaged transmission. Thanks

I have no idea what year they are but I'll look. I just kind of noticed them b/c when I had one, I couldn't find even the dumbest small parts and now they're sitting there.

What's different for the grade logic control - different harness? Sorry, I worried more about the motor then the tranny in the '99 I had.
