Headed up to Ashe Co on Tuesday since it was going to be above 50* which usually means a good bite. Got there at 11:00 to find the stream clear but at flood stage. Evidently the stream froze 10-14" in places during the cold snap. Lady at the store said 17 days 27* or lower. So there was ALOT of ice on the banks Ended up catching 5, lost several others (DH stream). Pics: Fishing 1-10 001.jpg

ME TOO! Got any places in Yancey/Mitchell counties worth going to. I got a place to stay in that area, and It'll hold a few friends!

Oh yeah!. Mitchell:Big Rock Creek and Cane Creek is GREAT and the North Toe can be as well. Yancey I have only fished teh South Toe.

Any time you want to head up I am game!

Nice,

Bet it was cold as crap up there. Was that Helton's Creek?

Shhhhhh. yeah it is. Not too bad but I didnt start until 11am and it was 45* by then.

I used to live in Hickory so I just added an extra hour each way to my drive. But I shortened my drive to Hatteras by an hour:beer:

I love me some trout fishing, but with ice on the ground...thats hard core.

Not sure of that particular water... just make sure you don't get caught with a treble hook if all artificial lures aren't allowed.

2 hooks are clipped off, yes it is a DH stream. I have NEVER broken a hunting or fishing law. My Dad would kick my ass or turn me in, and I am 37. Hell if you cant do it fair and square there is no challenge.

tru dat man. nice fish!! i used to fish stone mtn. a lot, lots of people fish there now tho. ever do any fly fishing?
