Truck shocks

I guess after 8 years and 255k miles, it's probably time for some new shocks on the truck. Empty ride quality is the biggest thing, as any new shock will dampen better than what's currently on there. All the Ford forums rave about Bilstein 5100s, but the same group will say they love them because they are firm, and then say they love them because the are soft, so the data quality is poor. I talked to Accutune about some Fox shocks valved for my truck, but $1100 is just more than makes sense for a road truck. Here's ballpark prices on what I'm considering:
Bilstein 5100 $300
Bilstein 4600 $300
KYB Mono $350
Rancho 9000 $400
Stock Ford $250

I put 5100s on my dodge, mostly because I got them cheap. The ride got better but not drastic.

The Dodge forums rave about a shackle flip in the rear being a big answer to ride quality but there are drawbacks.

Agreed. It would also make the rear squat like all the Fords, when loaded.

Well, I found some KYB Monomax for $200 shipped. Jumped on that. We will see how they work out. Did a lot more digging on the fix or repair daily forums, and found multiple posts comparing the KYBs to the Bilsteins before pulling the trigger.

Went with 5100s on the front of Lumpy (F-350 C&C) and once I get the rear lower brackets defuq'd (previous imbeciles attempted to jack up the rear by the starboard mount & folded it over) will follow with a set there as well

Thanks for the feedback fellas. Hopefully I will get the new KYBs on this weekend and will update this thread in a couple weeks once I have some miles on them.
