98 chevy z71 5.7 4x4 removed radio to install new sony radio and truck well sart's but wont run put old radio back in and it didnt change if any one has a clue whats going on please inlighten me thanks
 
check fuses
 
yup...check fuses, then retrace EVERYTHING you did to install the head unit.
give us a better description of "wont run".
 
It's my truck. My dash doesn't work, my 4x4 indicator light doesn't turn on, the truck will turnover and crank fine but will shut back down once it hits 1200 rpms. I had put on the new radio, didn't like it, took it out and put the stock one back in. Checked all the fuses, battery connections, computers, everything.
 
is there a fuse box under the hood?

sounds like someone slipped with the wire cutter.
 
Typical GM theftlock issue. Call the stealership Monday(if they are not open today) and they can help you.
 
Yeah. We were thinking the same thing. Is there anything we can do to get it without messing with the dealership? Like I knw theres a way to get all the codes to unlock the radio and stuff.
 
Dig deep enough on the internet and you may be able to find it or find a stealership willing to give the info over the phone. I got my info over the phone from Modern Chevrolet, I think.
 
Alright. I've tried the internet and all I can find so far is stuff on how to unlock the radio. But i'm calling a dealership monday for some help. Of course it had to break down on July 4th weekend when nothings open :shaking:
 
There really shouldnt be anything whatsoever in the radio harness that would have anything at all to do with the startiing of your truck. I think its coincidence. Were you pulling amp wires or anything at the same time? Did you use a harness or did you cut the plug off?
 
Your truck should have the passlock 2 system if it has any antitheft on it. Can you hear the fuel pump running? Usually you can just allow the truck to sit for a few minutes and it will reset as long as the system is working properly.
 
check the fuses...I fixed my friends land cruiser a few nights ago. His alarm, radio, and interior lights wouldn't work. I told him to check the fuses and he didn't listen. The Dome light fuse was blown.....the cause way a hot naked wire from the cd player install.
 
Yup you're right man. I thought I checked all of them but the Gauge fuse was blown so I changed it and were good to go.
