Turn off the radio if its real country You wanna hear... Country music now a days is as bad as flat bills and squated diesels in NC! Haha

He does have a good point tho and if he had a wife beater and flat bill with cowboy boots on stage that song could possibly go platinum with the bullshit that's being played these days! Good laugh none the less!

I thought country died with Waylon and cash
Not dead just on hiatus until Whitey Morgan,Chris Stapleton,Sturgil Simpson and a hand full of others got discovered.Thats style of music is still around your just not gonna hear it on conv radio.

'Country' is what's in the David Alan Coe song right?

If twangy and gritty is what you're after, Mike Cooley has been doing that for years.

I still haven't heard enough of Sturgill to form an opinion.

I liked The Steeldrivers without realizing it was Chris Stapleton. His solo stuff seems alright.

I want to like BJ Barham's brand new solo stuff but the one single they've released is depressing shit.

I've been listening to A LOT of old 'country' and bluegrass. I turned on WQDR on the way to the store last week and thought my ears were going to bleed. It was just like the song in the OP.

what genre is blackberry smoke?

The highway on XM is more pop than country anymore. They use to try and make the pop music sound a little country, now they don't even do that.
Get away from that and go over to Willie's road house or outlaw country.

X2. I listen to both of those and prime country way more than the highway.
