New to the board and i have decided to finally get my old toyota pickup back rollin! Anyway the issue's of finding an engine option is the main problem now... Some moron before i got my hands on the truck hacked up the entire engine harness and took the original 22RE and put a 20R in. Anyway im wanting to put it back to stock with a 22RE and have a little fun.... Basically thats a brief description! thanks....

Are you sure it is a 20r or is it a 22r block w/ a 20r head maybe they weren't such morons, your rengine harness from the RE would be useless with a 20r and probably taken out your looking at a carb'd harness. do you still have EFI computer, or is it being run by a carb computer, or does it have a non electronic carb. just buy a complete RE motor and install, and a EFI computer if yours is gone.

I have a complete RE motor with everything and a computer to match thats needs to be rebuilt. And of course i could rebuild it for you if you were so inclined.

Yeah, Chase has a great point here. Take a close look at the block, and back sure it isn't from a 22r. The 20r head has better flow, and you can get a big power boost by puting it on the 22r block... if this is the combo you have, and it runs well, then you could easily sell it as a whole unit for more than you need to buy a complete 22re setup. Hell I bet you could find somebody to do a direct trade.
Other than this combo, there really is no reason at all to replace a 22r w/ a 20, short of being really desperate and having no fundage and just having it on hand...

Look in the swap meet section here. Lots of toyota parts for sale. I recently saw a 7mge/7mgte for sale. That will give you a boost!

wow i accidently ignored this thread my fault sorta forgot i signed up been very busy thanks for all the input yeah i would get rid of the 20R pretty quick and the people that had the truck prior to me were complete moron's.... I was given the truck as my first car back in like 2000..... It has been sitting for a bit now.. To answer some of the questions as far as i know the ECU is actually in place but the wiring is a real rats nest! i just need an under hood wiring harness mostly.... As well as the complete 22re drop in. I really just want to take the truck back pretty stock for many reasons all though a 302 swap would be kinda fun:popcorn: o and as is the truck is currently not running im 99% sure that it jumped time back before i stopped driving it.....
