TRYING TO TRACK DOWN A TRUCK?

Im trying to track down a truck i sold about 8 years ago. I do not have to the vin number. Anybody done this and can give some info on best route to take?
 
I tried several years ago with an old car I sold when we got pregnant with my son.
DMV said there was no records they had that could help me.
Hit dead ends at every DMV close by until I finally gave up.

Knew who i sold the car to, tracked him down he had sold it but had no clue who to. Trail went dead there.
 
may have to try that.
its 40+years old and I dont ahve the VIN...im not hopeful
And if I do find it, its worth probably 10x what I sold it for in 2000
