Tube Bending Tips

I'm sorry, but are you sure? That's nearly half the quote I got from our supplier last week, and they're usually great on prices. $2.75 isn't cheap, it's ridiculous! That's in line with the quote I got on HREW, though. that's why I'm asking.

Got some a few weeks ago, bout the same price. We get it from ryerson. They won't deal with small orders, but I imagine ya'll buy alot of steel.

Yeah. I think we just placed an order for aluminum channel from Ryerson's today. I should have asked them. The quote I got was from Advanced, and they wanted somewhere in the $4.5 range for DOM, $2.25 for HREW. I might have to see if I can piggyback on that Ry order. Let the company pay for shipping! :D

I am starting on my cage this weekend, and I am looking for some tips on bending 1.75
What do you allow for the bend, Say I have a 20'' area and want to bend a piece of tube so that the 90 is at the end of the 20'' measurement, I know I have to add inches to allow for the bend, Does anyone know how much? I am using a JD2 bender.
Also any other "tips" would be great. I may have someone who has bent up tube helping and then again I may have to go at myself and learn.
Thanks for the suggestions
I thought you already drew it up in bendtech. Why not just use that for your measurements. Once you get it dialed into your bender it works great.

Ahh I see. Yea it is a great program if you get it set up right with your bender. I can definitely understand not wanting to trust it though. I draw stuff on mine and it seems crazy what it says to do but its usually right.
