I had a thread about this exact same topic with a poll. Hands down winner was 1.75" .120 wall DOM

Anything less than 1/4" wall will dent. Anything more than 1/8" wall will be too heavy. Dents give it character. 1-3/4" or 1-1/2" is a good size, just a matter of what you want cosmetically. 1-3/4" will be stronger.

small or mid size use 1.5 - .120 DOM
big buggy use 1.75 - .120 DOM
Non contact areas will be ok with HREW, but all areas that might hit in a roll should be DOM.
