Turbo 400 shifting cold/hot

What would cause a turbo 400 to shift soft (when manually shifting on the column while stationary) when the engine is cold, but clunk into gears after the engine/trans is warm?

What he said. I know it's a simple one, but is the fluid level where it's supposed to be?
 
Fluid was replaced with new filter. My first thought went to fluid level too.

thank you both. I’ll likely just find a trans shop for them to look it over. Wanted to try and narrow down what it may be before hand.
