Lookin to turbo a 1990 geo tracker. I have seen it done before but I'm not sure how to do it. I'm gonna take the motor out and build it but I was wondering if anyone knew how to turbo it? I would also like feedback on a good light cam and on the motor? I plan to bore it 30 over

Thanks andrew

So, you want to pressurize your motor? Up to 5 psi may be ok on a non-turbo motor. Beyond that magical things start happening really quick. Detonation is your enemy. Like suggested, research and read before you spend a lot of money. BTW, the mid-80's turbo Toyotas had no intercooler but limited their boost to 5 or so psi. However, the engine had a lower compression ratio and probably forged pistions. I owned one and it had good highway power in stock form for what it was. You will need to feed the turbo coolant and oil so figure that into your plans.

That'll be a small snail on that motor. What's the budget turbo motors can get expensive fast.

I've only ever seen one turbocharger that used anything but oil to cool itself...they certainly aren't used in the aftermarket. Anyway, the 22ret uses cast pistons, and 5psi is just a guess knowing nothing else about the motor. I doubt there are many choices for a 90 geo cam, but you don't want much overlap...if in doubt, use the stock cam. I would suggest asking this question on a suzuki or tracker forum where it has actually been figured out already...then copy that.

Braxton most factory turbos on gas engines are water cooled. I would look at a turbo off of a vw or saab, I used bothe at differnet times on my last buggy and they worked great, small, little lag and cheap at pull apart. I did cheat and use a factory manifold off of a turbo toy truck so all I had to do was make an adapter for the flange....

This reminds me of Ricky and the Sammy on 40s with no cutting.
nd it still smells like a well played troll

first off thanks to all the suggestions
second it was andrew my husband seeing if anyone on here knew how to
and third what the hell is a troll and what the hell does it smell like? geeeze

You're funny... however I don't think you smell like a troll. I think my dog farted.
