Turn signal issues

My turn signals started acting up this morning on my 97 Yukon, and I can't figure out why. The left TS works as normal, but the right TS indicator in the dash acts like it shotgunned a case of redbull and then did a speedball, and the lamps themselves aren't working. The TS module under the dash is for both sides, and since the left side works fine, I assume that the module (what's the correct term?) is fine. The contacts are clean. I haven't had a chance to look at it, but, I'm assuming it's a wiring issue. Any advice as to where to start looking?

You get to replace the tail light assembly on the right side ( should actually be a module board, depending on design)

Might check with dealer, there was a recall on this I think ( there are so many, they run together) ultimatly, you'll be replacing BOTH sides in time.

Welcome to GM :flipoff2:

Lucky me! Maybe I'll get some euros for the extra horsepower.

I'll call the dealer in the morning. If there is no recall, got a recommendation for a good place to get a replacement that doesn't involve "assuming the position"?

Is a common problem, usually caused by water intrusion and age.

Dealer is the only place I know to get "quality" replacments, buying used will result in the same problem again.
The replacements "supposedly" have been improved to eliminate this problem

I'll check it when I get off work this afternoon. Thanks for the help yall, I suck at all things electrical.

If you're gonna drive a chevy, you'd better get good at electrical issues. And fast or it'll break your wallet. Course, it's a GM product, it'll do that anyway. I was a BMW tech for 5 years and I'm not agood enough mechanic to own a chevy.

Yea as far as I can recall everything that has gone wrong on the Z71 has been a direct result of something I shouldn't have done (mumbling: stupid half ton tranny . . . .)
When I worked at an independant shop in Sanford the wash boys father (a banker) put a tranny in his tahoe every 50k or so because they kept crapping out. And yet he swears by chevys. If I put one tranny in at 50k the thing would go for sale the next day and I would try something different.

Define insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Something to think about...

I've got 180,000k on the original tranny and I beat the crap outta my truck.

So now that we've completely derailed this thread, I guess it's time for me to go get lunch and some new taillight bulbs and see what happens.

I had a similar problem on my truck recently...replaced the bulbs, and they would work for a few days then stop. I could jiggle them and sometimes get them to work, so finally I said fuck it and replaced the circuit board, think it was like $25 at advance.

It's the circuit board that's giving me hell. I bought new bulbs and took it apart, and the middle socket (I'm guessing turn signal) short circuited or something and melted. Sooooo.. back to the parts counter.
