Anybody on here do TV repair on the side? I have a big Toshiba flat screen tube TV that I'd like to have fixed.
 
Do you know whats wrong?
I've fixed several, Toshiba's are notorious for convergence board issues.
 
I have no idea. line straight across the top 1/2' thick then several lines below & above. The scree also jumps.

I guess I could tak a pic & post it tomorrow after work.

Is the convergence board worth fixing?
 
convergence is color convergence, as it sounds the red blue and green will not align.
this makes shit look like 80s 3d glasses movies.
Not really worth fixing on most tubes at this point

How big a tv w talking Jeff?

I mean you could upgrade to a sweet plasma in the 42-50" range right now for cheap..probably not much more than paying to have yours fixed.
problem you are going to run into is lamps have to be getting tired, sounds like vertical alignment is going out may be good money after bad.

For shits and grins take off the back panel, look and see if the lamps are loose or if anything is between the screen (obvious stuff)

i assume we are talking big rear projection here?

I'll plug it tonite & snap a pic, it's about an 90lb pos.

42"-50 plasma =$500-700 reall don't want to spend that unless I have to.
 
i have a friend that just moved out of state,he has a 48 inch RCA,1.5 yrs old,said he wanted 450.00 for it,he has no room for it in his new place.
