1) I see it spelled two ways on maps and forums...is it "Kodiak Rock" or "Kodak Rock"??

2) What does URE stand for? I've called it UNF for the last 30 years (Uwharrie National Forest)

Thanks...

(DP, trying to be grammatically correct)

I think properly it is "Kodak Rock" (i.e. people get on it to take a Kodak picture) but some people like to call it Kodiak for whatever reason.

URE stands for UwhaRriE. It actually isn't an acronym, it is just pronounced the same.

URE is a rough pnemumonic (sp?) the pronunciation of Uwharrie

Oops looks like somone beat me to it.

I see...thanks.

And yes, that's a pretty rough pnemwhathehellever

I was trying to make Uwharrie Recreational E????? or something.

the next ? should be which rock is kodak and which is budweiser LOL
that is the other common one you hear out there :flipoff2:

long live kodiak rock

i have always, and will always call it kodiak

way, way better name for an obstacle anyway

It can be a bear sometimes.

I can't believe how much it's changed over the last 10 years. It used to barely be noticeable and now, good Lord that place has eroded. People even struggle with the old "bypass" now.

Oh, and it's KODAK. :huggy:
