Anyone have a logical reason there are so many different sizes of U joints? Seems to me there would be 1/4 Ton, 1/2 Ton, 1 Ton.. etc.

But looking up U joints for a 1/2 Chevy Truck there were just SO MANY options. the differences being so small it begs the question why? like I said, I can see maybe a Light duty, a medium duty and a heavy duty for your typical passenger vehicles, light duty trucks and 1 ton trucks, not counting Big rigs and heavy equipment. Hell, I can even see Internal and external clips. But I had to run the Vin# to make sure I got the ONE size that would fit this particular driveshaft.

I agree! What is Ford's explanation to a 1330F? GM's 3R?

it easier to buy a book for you vehicle then depending on a highschool kid that doesnt know a box wrench from a line wrench.

but yes it is frustrating

my local autozone i am lucky enough to have Mike (@amajeepman) working there
that knows almost anything i ask him. its a shame hes the only guy out of 6 local parts stores.

that guy needs a big bonus for his knowledge.

Exactly, In every facet of our lives. Pisses me the hell off. You find something that works properly and an engineer or marketing person changes it for the "better" so they can justify their existence.

Bingo! We design new parts for job security:D.

If ti works fine, is cost effective. Why change it? Why re-invent the wheel? We constantly go through this where I work. This is the definition of service & product support nightmare. Unless your documentation is perfect, which it never is.
