Uhwarrie potential fee increases (and other National Forests)

"Additionally, the following fee proposals went through the required public participation process in 2019 and are awaiting review by the Southern Region Recreation Resource Advisory Committee"

4 years? This is their job, and they've been sitting on it 4 years? Crap like this is why I'm opposed to them raising fees. Effort will not be made to reinvest in the recreational experience.

Read through comments on a FB post of everybody saying they won't go back. All I can say is I'm glad there will be less traffic.
I too found it funny how many folks *claimed* to never be back over an additional $30/year. My guess is we’ll see them around

On the bicycle/horse fee side of things in PNF - the wording says something to the effect of “UP TO 95% of the fee MAY be used to improve the trail system” etc etc.. I think if there’s anything the last 100 or so years have proven is that trusting the government with more of your money doesn’t necessarily correlate with positive results

If the increased fees ended up directly in the hands of those making improvements to the user experience in a timely fashion (PNF, URE, wherever) then maybe folks would have less to gripe about. Problem is they end up in Raleigh to get distributed as the government sees fit for whatever agenda of the day is going on around the state. I can guarantee you no one in power right now is sitting around thinking “if we only had an extra $30/year/user we’d put in 5 new trails at Uhwarrie”

Doesn't the N in PNF stand for National? Not "North Carolina"
That dosn't mean it will be any better spent, but in general bc of the way Congress allocates funds it should at least stay within the park service.

I'm fine with it. Hopefully it helps the trails and if it cuts back on the riff raff. 2 birds 1 stone
Bingo.
IMO best situation is a fee that is juuuust enough to run off the real cheapskates that think Carona is a fancy beer..

That's a HUGE 'if'.
Not one single taxpayer should ever be fine with any tax increase with the hundreds of years of waste and mismanagement data we have to look back on.

Yeah it gets murky as I think it involves areas that don’t actually belong to the national forest in their entirety also.. so who knows. Either way I’m sure the government has your (our) best interests at heart (tried to say that with a straight face 😂)

The poors whining on Facebook are entertaining. Bitching over a $10 a day or $30 a year difference in an already expensive hobby.
I never understood that. Park fees are by far the cheapest part of this hobby no matter which way you slice it.

What is it then? And what are the documented steps and milestones that this fee increase will make better for us?!
You answered your own question

Stop drinking beers and use the money to wheel
