so a group of us is going to Portsmouth island for the Reds again in Nov. Im taking the CJ as my beach buggy. Ive been there so I know I need another 10Gallons of fuel in cans since we are going for almost a week. plenty of coolers obviously. what else would anybody put on their rig if they were running support on a beach for a week where there is limited supplies? NOT camping in the vehicle. exo cage on a half cab CJ7. so I can bolt/weld/attach all kinds of stuff on it for the trip.

I got me a loaner fold and tumble that I cant decide where to mount. on top, rear mounted sideway, rear mounted along the fenders? I wont run a spare that trip because Ive still got the runflats installed. Ive stretched the bed 12" too so I have some extra space.

10 gals beer to go w/fuel.

bug goop? ~~prolly cold enough for them to be gone, but that island is hellacious in the summer....

Fresh water in a jug for washing off. Every time I go I wish I brought more for my hands, the fish cleaning, general washing, and rinsing of the reels.

Lots of bug spray.

Light waders

Stripper pole for the chicks?

I need to go on a trip with you guys^ y'all sound fun!!! Lol

I built a water sprayer from a 17 gallon tub and a 12v pump with a sprayer from a regular garden sprayer is awesome for washing kids, fish, hands, or whatever else. First version used a keg, was cool but didn't want the attention the keg brought. Especially on the beach.

You need at least one of the hot bitches to hand you beers and what not. There is a million uses for hot bitches, never embark on an adventure without at least one, but two is exponentially better.

^ win on the hot bitches. I think two are exponentially expensive though.

I was thinking about a 6 or 8" diameter PVC pipe capped on both ends mounted on top of the cage for water. just plumb one end for a small hose and it should have plenty of head pressure to work a descent nozzle for rinsing hands/fish and gear. if that doesn't work then just get a wiper spray pump etc.
I was also thinking about a cutting board to mount on the tailgate, and a nice led mounted on a extendable painters pole with an on/off switch mounted right there at the rear so we don't all have on head lamps. I HATE head lamps- everybody always blinding everybody... theres water on the island so a refill of water is ok. does anybody have experience with dry ice they can offer? I was thinking that a small cooler of just dry ice would be nice, then use the dry ice to keep the regular ice good to go.

Get a good cooler (like a Yeti) and your ice will last a few days at least.

You can spend $30 on a Coleman.

Or if you absolutely have to spend $400 on a cooler, just buy a fawking Norcold fridge freezer.

Meh... If I'm camping and want to make something cold, I put it in the refrigerator. If I want to make it really cold, I put it in the freezer.

I'll stick with the Coleman and wait for cooler and diesel truck prices to come down. Yeti's are too redneck-trendy right now.

Their slogan should be... YETI.... Because ice is so damn expensive....

..... And the YETI sticker is usually right beside the "Salt Life" sticker or the Browning deer head. Look in the Douchebag thread.... I'm sure you'll see several in there....

If the sun is out keep your cooler in the shade, I see peeps all the time w their coolers just baking in the sun on hot days. I make my own sand spikes/rod holders w thin walled PVC pipe,a 10' piece of 1.5 or 2" cut in half w a sharp diagonal makes 2 of them. Hook a golf bag towel through a hole drilled near the top of the pipe and it's always there for wiping your bait hands. Always have a cooler just for bait and a piece of wood or cutting board and sharp fillet knife to make cutbait from Pinfish etc. Keep the cut bait or any bait cold and dry in ziplock bags, not soaking in ice and water. Headed/gutted fish can be rinsed in the surf, rub the blood and pull off any silvery/bloody stuff w your fingers. After gutting I scratch the bloody backbone w a knife before washing out/plucking the abdomens. Removing all blood makes the fish store in the cooler better and taste better later. I try to have one rod w small hooks on a bottom rig out just to catch Pinfish, fresh fillets cut in long triangles I--> catch about anything in the surf and they stay on the hooks to catch 2, 3 or more bigger fish on one piece!
