Hey guys i'm thinking of stripping the carpet out of my 1991 suburban and having it sprayed with bed liner. Is there any surprises lurking for me? Whats under the carpet on the sides going up to the plastic trim in rear cargo area? Any input is truelly appreciated. thanks for yall's time.
 
in my k5 there was some nasty black tarlike stuff that was a major pita to take off. i used a wire wheel on my drill, a wire brush, goof off, a scraper, and a flatghead screwdriver to get it off. it was the worst part of herculining my truck no doubt
 
You may find some rubber padding like stuff under it in the floorboard area also. Soaking the previously mentioned tar stuff with acetone covered rags for a while helps loosen it and a razor blade scraper will take some of it up pretty easy also.
 
If it is street driven much, you can not imaagine how much louder the ride will be.
 
It's gonna be street driven a pretty good amount but then again it's soon gonna be on 44's so road noise is gonna be loud anyways. But thanks for the heads up.
