Looking for some ideas on how to treat the ceiling of our front porch.

I wanted to use corrugated tin, but the wife didn't care for that. I could do bead board between the rafters, but that's a ton of ripping.

Just looking for alternate ideas.

Over the rafters. You've got to cover all of that and paint the ceiling, or the carpenter bees will destroy it.

Make sure to provide a vented ridge and soffit.

Depends on what style you have around the house. If it is vinyl house i would do vinyl ceiling. Vinyl ceiling will cost about a 100 a sq to buy

1x6 T&G eastern white pine should only cost you about $.75-$.85 per lineal foot as long as you aren't buying from a box store.

Easy to install, cheap and can be painted or stained.

The demented part of me wants to do the entire ceiling of my upcoming garage build in T&G. Just so it looks like an Eichler house inside. The sane part of me knows that drywall is cheaper.
