My took a turn for the worse today and pretty sure it is fried. Just wondering what other people are using. This one was a cheapo one off eBay but it lasted for 3 years.

You mean a fence for an underground dog?
That's not really going to work.:flipoff2:

[got nothin useful]

We are using the one you can get at pet smart, I think pet safe is the brand. Our last one went out with a flash and a loud pop during a thunderstorm. I was told this one (same model as last one) was internally protected now and that wouldn't happen. I think it was just over $100

Mine just started beeping like if there was a line break. I know the wire isnt broke it is a week old, I just replaced it. I ended up cutting it tonight and the beeping stopped and said there was no line break so I'd assume the control panel is screwed up

Yeah I had talked to a guy that put in the "professional" versions. He explained to me that since they are basically a big low level antenna that they get a lot of interference. Our old one used to beep a lot... It would start beeping when we turned on our back porch light. The one we have now has never beeped. I check it periodically with an extra collar we have just to make sure it's still working.

I have used the wireless petsmart system with good results.

I currently don't need it because my dog isn't an asshole like the last one.

If your over this way I would cut you a great deal on it :D

I have the wireless system. Works great and is about 12-14 years old and going strong.

nothing to add except a funny story.

My sister had 2 Jack Russels. She installed wireless fence, put the flags out and let the hounds loose. In typical manner, they bolted for the woods on the back lot. First one hit the line, got shocked and sat down getting zapped over and over. the other hit the line, turned 90* and ran along the fence line getting zapped. they didn't know what the fuck was going on and it was kinda funny to watch.

I had a big boxer that would run and jump right through it. even on the highest setting. stubborn bastard!

I had both kinds growing up. Daddy didnt want me leaving the yard......

Just kiddin

Really though, with the wire version our beagle would take off running full speed from halfway across the yard and only get shocked for a second or so. Then he was home free. Our old lab would lay down in the shade close enough to the wire for the collar to give its warning beeps. He would lay there till it stopped beeping (battery in collar dead). Then he would get up and walk across the line and wherever he wanted.

Lol I have threatened to put it on my girl friend to keep he from leaving when she is suppose to be cleaning. Just kidding but she did have it in her hand and walk across the line I about peed from laughing so hard, she never figured out to throw it down so it kept shocking her

When I had to replace the battery in the collar my wife and I argued over who would test it to make sure it worked.

I ended up being the guinea pig haha

One day after the lab killed his battery, I took the collar to the garage to change the battery. I wasn't thinking when I carried it back across the line. It shocked the piss out of me. Literally.
