Union Pacific 4014

This is on my bucket list to see someday….Union Pacific has been restoring the #4014 steam locomotive. Just took it on it’s first shakedown run after rebuild. Engine and tender together are 1.2 *million* pounds.

132 feet long with the tender. 16 drive wheels that are 68 inches tall! That thing is awesome.

I love seeing steam locos, hit and miss engine, etc in action, it's facinating to see the parts all working together externally.

If you haven't already been you should check out the NC transportation museum in Spencer, especially when the 611 is down from Virginia for a visit. They restored the 611 there.

Union Pacific Railroad, is one Facebook site I've been following, along with "Fire up 611" & I think, "American Train Museum", or something like that. I saw a few videos, & "liked" them, Now I get More to watch than I need!

There's southern steam on FB too. Pretty cool pics and videos of older southern railway engines still pulling passenger excursions.

I'm here in Wyoming with my gf right now waiting on it to come through Evanston. Pretty excited might actually be able to wake up before 7.

I've seen 4012 up at Steamtown in PA. Unbelievable how huge the thing is.
