details aside, is there an easy way to get a key cylinder unlocked on a '90 cherokee w/o the key?

Or, a way to get it started w/o key and cylinder locked.

PM if you feel uncomfortable giving out this info, I am trying to get this thing started early tomorrow.

Pull the steering wheel and remove the cyl.

$15 buys a new switch and you can get the wheel off w/o a puller, but puller makes it easier.

A screw driver and hammer will render the key slot useless.....of course assuming you have legal ownership blah, blah, blah

jut stick thee screwdriver in give it a whack and try to turn, if it dont work rinse and repeat

Takes 30 mins to change out the cylinder.

* Disclaimer* I just heard this from a guy, from a guy, from a guy......dont know if it works.........but he said it did.

I'm assuming its like a 90 wrangler, and has a GM cylinder in it.......If it is an older cylinder, one that hasn'y been replaced recently..... Just about any 80's GM ignition key that is not brand new, with a little bit of jiggling, will get it to crank..

dirt and or dry dust, in the cylinder will help when using the wrong key. The "key" to it is lots of jiggling the key, and bumping the steering wheel left to right, against the lock.

Once you get all the planets to line up, itll turn.

You can also use channel locks accross the key fobs, but usually ruins the whole column.

But seriously, by the time you mess with it trying get it to crank w/o the right key. You could have changed out the whole thing. Ive had to do it twice on my YJ, b/c I'm an idiot and loose keys.

damn, kinda sounds like i might just be pulling it out. If anyone around Raleigh has nothing to do around 10 30 or 11am, knows what they are doing with this and wants to ride along let me know.

Also, if you know your way around a 4.0 I would surely appreciate your time
