So, after loosing a small amount of coolant and having a strong smell in the cab, I got my mechanic to give me a definite diagnoses on a bad heater core (although it was obvious).
*This is an update to the 1997 F150 Heater Core Post*
I didn't and still don't have $900 bucks to let the dealership do it so I bought some Bars Leaks....not a big fan of radiator sealant as it can gum up your system. The original problem was a week ago and I have not lost a single drop of coolant since the Bars was added.
THE PROBLEM: I still have a overbearing smell of coolant from my heating system. Overall I'd say I have only lost 1/8 in. of coolant from my resevior (which was all in a 20 minute period) and figure the smell should be gone. If I am loosing NO coolant...I figure there is no leak. How do I get rid of the smell??? ( I originally got the smell w/ any air coming through the vents....now just the heat). Any suggestions?
Thanks for all your help...this is a great forum.
